Joshua J. Meeks, MD, PhD, the Edward M. Schaeffer, MD, PhD, Professor of Urology at Northwestern Medicine, focused his time at AUA on bladder cancer. In Dr. Meeks’ presentation, he challenged the use of neobladder diversion and favored ileal conduit in bladder cancer patients. Perry J. Xu, MD, instructor of Urology at Northwestern Medicine, won best poster for “Waiting for HoLEP – Outcomes when Complications Arise in the Preoperative Period.” Additionally, Dr. Xu presented on a prospective randomized controlled trial, which examined the effectiveness of methocarbamol compared to oxybutynin in relieving stent colic.
