SUCCESSFUL TREATMENT FOR UTERINE FIBROIDS

A patient from Phoenix, Arizona, went through a long and painful experience with uterine fibroids but found the right treatment at Northwestern Medicine with Dr. Milad. Not only did he remove her fibroid, but he preserved her ability to have[DM1]  children in the future. Another patient was told by physicians outside of Northwestern Medicine that a hysterectomy was her only option.

“That’s a tragedy. It just simply should not happen in this day and age. The uterus is not a disposable organ,” says Robert L. Vogelzang, MD.

To address this patient’s fibroids, her Northwestern Medicine team used uterine fibroid embolization, a minimally invasive procedure. This kept her uterus intact and helped her return to her everyday activities.
