“Gestational diabetes is one of the most common complications of pregnancy,” Dr. Szmuilowicz says. “And depending on the criteria used to diagnose GDM, it affects anywhere from 6% to 25% of pregnant women. So it is quite prevalent, and it is associated with increased risks of several serious conditions in both the mothers and the infants.” |
