8 MULTIDISCIPLINARY CLINICS TO TREAT COMPLEX RHEUMATIC DISEASES

The Northwestern Medicine Division of Rheumatology has established eight multidisciplinary disease-specific clinics and programs to provide comprehensive, coordinated care and improve outcomes for patients with these conditions. Learn more about these clinics below.

The Ankylosing Spondylitis Program at Northwestern Medicine
 
The Ankylosing Spondylitis Program aims to reduce pain and stiffness, reduce deformities and help patients maintain an active lifestyle. The multidisciplinary approach to diagnosis and treatment includes specialists in rheumatology, orthopedics, physical rehabilitation, pulmonology, cardiology, nephrology and genetics.

Northwestern Medicine Myositis Clinic
 
Established in 2021, the Myositis Clinic combines the expertise of specialists in rheumatology, neurology and neuromuscular medicine, pulmonology, dermatology, and physical medicine and rehabilitation to offer the best outcomes possible through comprehensive, coordinated myositis care.

The Psoriatic Arthritis Program at Northwestern Medicine
 
The Psoriatic Arthritis Program is a multidisciplinary, combined clinic for patients with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. Rheumatology and dermatology experts work together to develop individualized treatments for both the skin condition and joint inflammation.

The Scleroderma Program at Northwestern Medicine
 
The Scleroderma Program pursues intensive basic and clinical research to advance the treatment of scleroderma. Our work requires the collaboration of many specialists, including rheumatology, pulmonary, dermatology, cardiology, nephrology, gastroenterology and plastic surgery.

The Lupus Program at Northwestern Medicine
 
The Lupus Program hopes to help people with lupus live fuller and more rewarding lives so that we can better understand the disease, diagnose patients earlier, use less-toxic therapies to treat patients and ultimately find a cure.

The Northwestern Medicine Rheumatic Diseases in Pregnancy Program
 
Rheumatic diseases — including systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthritis, and Sjögren syndrome — can be associated with high-risk pregnancies. We offer a collaborative approach between specialties, such as rheumatology, internal medicine and obstetrics, to care for pregnant patients with rheumatic diseases and conditions.

The Rheumatoid Arthritis Program at Northwestern Medicine
 
The Rheumatoid Arthritis Program aims to develop effective pain prevention and treatment strategies to improve the well-being of patients. Researchers are working to develop new biomarkers and tests to predict response to treatment.

The Vasculitis Center at Northwestern Medicine
 
The only one of its kind in Illinois, the Vasculitis Center, a collaboration with the Vasculitis Foundation, provides comprehensive care among specialists in pulmonary disease, renal disease, dermatology, neurology, otorhinolaryngology and other disciplines for patients with vasculitides. The center supports clinical and translational research into the epidemiology and treatment of vasculitis.
