Northwestern Medicine Conducts Study on what causes pcos
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) affects one in 10 women and is one of the most common causes for metabolic problems and infertility in women. Daughters of women with PCOS have increased risk for the condition, and there is evidence that some hormone changes in affected girls can begin early in life.
Christina Boots, MD, with Laura Torchen, MD, and her team at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, are conducting a study on pregnant mothers (with or without PCOS) and their babies to understand how PCOS develops in order to improve prevention and early treatment.
