Edward M. Schaeffer, MD, PhD, Chair of Urology and the Harold Binstein Professor of Urology at Northwestern Medicine Elected Member, Clinical Society of Genitourinary Surgeons Edward M. Schaeffer, MD, PhD, has been elected to the Clinical Society of Genitourinary Surgeons. This honor is reserved for leaders of urology programs who, by their skill and leadership, have developed programs with significant scientific, clinical and teaching components deemed to be exceptionally excellent. Membership in the society is limited to 25 urologists who have made major contributions to advancing urology. Murphy, MD, Assistant Professor of Urology at Northwestern Medicine Assistant Director of Community Outreach and Engagement, Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center at Northwestern Medicine 2022 Lurie Cancer Center Excellence Award Leader of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, National Cancer Institute Chemoprevention Clinical Trials Network Top 1,000 Black Scientists in the U.S., Cell Press Adam Murphy, MD, received a 2022 Lurie Cancer Center Award of Excellence for his commitment to addressing cancer disparities at Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center at Northwestern Medicine and beyond. Dr. Murphy has participated on the NCI Cancer Moonshot Panel on Biobanking and is now a standing member of the National Institutes of Health Molecular Cancer Diagnosis and Classification study section. Most recently, he was selected to lead the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee for the National Cancer Center Cancer Prevention Clinical Trial Network. He is also assistant director of Community Outreach and Engagement of Lurie Cancer Center, chair of the Diversity in Men’s Health Committee of SPORE in Prostate Cancer and member of the Diversity Committee of Northwestern University’s Program in Public Health. William J. Catalona, MD, Professor of Urology at Northwestern Medicine President, American Association of Genitourinary Surgeons Excellence Award, Italian American Chamber of Commerce Midwest Joshua A. Halpern, MD, Assistant Professor of Urology at Northwestern Medicine Research Scholar Award, Urology Care Foundation Emilie K. Johnson, MD, Associate Professor of Pediatric Urology at Northwestern Medicine 2022 Mentee, American Urological Association Urology Scientific Mentoring and Research Training Academy Stephanie J. Kielb, MD, Chief of Reconstruction and Neurourology in the Department of Urology at Northwestern Medicine Humanitarian Grant Program Recipient, Urology Care Foundation Shilajit D. Kundu, MD, Chief of Urologic Oncology in the Department of Urology at Northwestern Medicine Inaugural Janice Binstein Professor of Urology This gift was made by a grateful patient in honor of the commitment from Shilajit D. Kundu, MD, to outstanding clinic care and scholarship in the field of urologic oncology. An endowed professorship is the highest academic award Northwestern Medicine can bestow on a faculty member. Krambeck, MD, Chief of Endourology and Stone Disease in the Department of Urology at Northwestern Medicine Inaugural Recipient, Northwestern Medicine Distinguished Physician in Urologic Innovation Award Amy E. Krambeck, MD, is the inaugural recipient of the Northwestern Medicine Distinguished Physician in Urologic Innovation Award. This award recognizes Dr. Krambeck’s outstanding contributions, surgical advances and scholarship in the field of endourology.
