December 2022 GENETIC PREDISPOSITIONS TO CANCERFeaturing: Jenna Z. Marcus, MD
Episode SummaryIn this video, Jenna Z. Marcus, MD, discusses the risks, screening procedures and treatment options for patients with predispositions to cancer. There are certain types of gynecologic cancers that are more likely to be passed down in families (through gene mutations that increase the risk of developing those cancers). Those cancers are commonly ovarian cancer, uterine cancer and endometrial cancer. Anywhere from about 2% to 3% of uterine cancers and up to 20% to 25% of ovarian cancers are inherited, making it vital for physicians to monitor those patients with predispositions.
