February 2022 GP2: THE GLOBAL PARKINSON'S GENETICS PROGRAMNiccolo E. Mencacci, MD, PhD, instructor of Neurology in the Division of Movement Disorders at Northwestern Medicine, discusses the Global Parkinson’s Genetics Program (GP2), of which Northwestern Medicine is an active member. This five-year program analyzes data from hundreds of thousands of volunteers around the world to further understand the genetic architecture of Parkinson’s disease (PD). GP2 will also study rare familial forms of PD with detailed gene discovery efforts toward identification of novel disease-causing genes and mutations.
