Northwestern Medicine is proud to announce the establishment of the Division of Geriatrics at Northwestern Medicine in 2022. Until now, Geriatrics was a section within the General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics Division in the Department of Medicine. “I am beyond excited to announce Northwestern Geriatrics has become The Division of Geriatrics!” states Lee Lindquist, MD, MPH, section chief of Geriatric Medicine in the Department of Medicine, George M. Eisenberg Research Professor of Geriatric Medicine and associate professor of General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics. “What does this mean? More resources, the expansion of clinical programs, additional fellowship spots, recruitment of more faculty, and more support for innovative research. Northwestern recognizes that seniors are an important population and we can do more to push the field of geriatrics.” With the recent creation of both the NIH-funded Northwestern Pepper Center and the Potocsnak Longevity Institute, innovative geriatrics research and training has a solid home at Northwestern. “I am pleased that June M McKoy, MD, MPH, JD, MBA will continue to trailblaze in her role as the Geriatrics Fellowship Director, supported by Anna Liggett, MD as Associate Fellowship Director.” In 2022 and beyond, The Northwestern Division of Geriatrics will be expanding an already wide range of service lines, including: home care, outpatient, inpatient, consultation, primary care, supportive living, skilled nursing care, and long-term-care. With services available in downtown Chicago and the suburbs, as well as through telehealth, Northwestern is providing care for seniors to places previously without geriatric medicine influences. “I am also happy to announce that Sara M Bradley, MD will be taking on the role of Clinical Practice Director, supported by Katherine T O'Brien, MD as Associate Clinical Practice Director, Home Care,” states Lindquist. “I am extremely proud of our strong all-female faculty team of geriatricians. They are truly an amazing group of physicians! We are looking forward to this growing adventure and will continue to keep you posted on our progress!” |
