A MULTIDISCIPLINARY APPROACH TO MYOSITIS

Myositis, also known as inflammatory myopathies, includes dermatomyositis, inclusion body myositis, anti-synthetase syndrome, immune-mediated necrotizing myopathy, polymyositis, and overlap syndromes. These rare and complex diseases require care across multiple disciplines. Established in 2021, the Northwestern Medicine Myositis Clinic combines the expertise of specialists in rheumatology, neurology/neuromuscular medicine, pulmonology, dermatology, and physical medicine and rehabilitation to provide the best outcomes possible through comprehensive, coordinated myositis care.

In this Better Edge podcast, Sarah Fantus, MD, assistant professor of Medicine in the Division of Rheumatology, and Arjun Seth, MD, assistant professor of Neurology in the Division of Neuromuscular Disease, both part of the Northwestern Medicine Myositis Clinic, discuss their team’s approach to the evaluation and management of myositis and the value of a multidisciplinary care model.
