Sheehan D. Fisher, PhD, has been appointed Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion at Northwestern University's The Graduate School effective June 1, 2023. Dr. Fisher is an associate professor and clinical psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in the Feinberg School of Medicine. He is an expert in perinatal mental health with a research specialization in understanding the unique contributions fathers and mothers make to the family and child health. Dr. Fisher received his PhD from the University of Iowa. He completed his internship and postdoctoral training at Northwestern University prior to joining the faculty in a research and clinical position. As a clinician, he specializes in performance optimization for individuals in high-pressure professions in addition to perinatal mental health. In his role as associate dean, Dr. Fisher will engage with students, trainees, programs, and campus collaborators to promote positive partnerships and cultivate an equity-oriented environment for the graduate and postdoctoral communities. As a member of the senior leadership team, he will advocate for inclusive practices and innovative approaches that foster a culture of holistic support, accessibility, and belonging.
