Northwestern Medicine’s Geriatrics department has been working tirelessly to help older adults age in place with dignity and independence. We are thrilled to share our key activities and accomplishments from 2023, and recognize the people who made them possible.
As the Chief of Geriatrics, I am humbled by the trust that older adults place in us, and inspired by the trainees we teach to be the next generation of geriatricians. With the support of the National Institutes of Health, we are excited to continue our cutting-edge research and make even greater strides in 2024. |
NEW NIH GRANT TO STUDY CAREGIVER NETWORKS OF OLDER ADULTS WITH ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE
Northwestern Medicine is set to receive $3.75 million over three years from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to support a new study titled "Measuring Caregiver Networks of Older Adults with Alzheimer's Disease." This grant will facilitate research aimed at measuring the caregiver networks of older adults affected by Alzheimer's disease.
INVESTIGATING THE MEDICATION PROFILE OF SUPERAGERS

NEGOTIAGE: AN AI-POWERED NEGOTIATION SOLUTION
The newly created NegotiAge is an online platform that uses AI avatars to teach negotiation skills to family caregivers and family members. The platform aims to help resolve conflicts between family members, older adults and care professionals by teaching communication and conflict resolution using business school tactics.
