RECONSTRUCTIVE LADDER FOR SURGICAL RECONSTRUCTION OF TRANSPLANT URETERAL STRICTURE DISEASE

Emily Ji, MD, narrates a robotic reconstruction of transplant ureteral stricture disease (USD) performed by Ziho Lee, MD.

Dr. Lee and Dr. Ji conducted a retrospective review, published to JU Open Plus, of patients who underwent robotic transplant reimplantation for USD after kidney transplantation.

The reconstructive ladder consisted of:
  • A side-to-side nontransecting reimplant as the first option
  • A Boari flap reconstruction as the second option

Surgical success was achieved in all patients, with no evidence of ureteral obstruction on imaging.
