​Inside the Carla Cuda, PhD, Lupus Lab at Northwestern Medicine

The Cuda Lab team focuses on researching systemic lupus erythematosus and its effects on the brain. Using animal models and patient studies, they examine the role of innate immune cells, such as microglia and macrophages, in disease progression.

​Inside the Deborah Winter, PhD, Rheumatic Disease Lab at Northwestern Medicine Rheumatology

The Winter Lab explores research on macrophages and immune cells in autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis and scleroderma. Using advanced techniques like ATAC-seq and RNA-seq, they investigate how macrophages drive disease and how their gene regulation can inform targeted treatments.
