ACR CONVERGENCE: MANAGING SLEEP DISTURBANCES IN PATIENTS WITH RHEUMATIC DISEASES

You can also learn more about sleep disturbances in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in Dr. Lee’s study published to BMC Rheumatology. This study aimed to:
  • Characterize sleep disturbance in patients with established RA.
  • Explore the relationship between sleep and mechanisms of central nervous system pain regulation.

​For 14 days, the study monitored the sleep of 48 participants using wrist-worn actigraphy and daily sleep diaries. Participants also underwent quantitative sensory testing to assess pain thresholds, temporal summation and conditioned pain modulation.
