June 2026 ANTHONY J. ESPOSITO, MD, NAMED 2026 CHEST NETWORK RISING STAR AWARD RECIPIENTWe are proud to announce that Anthony J. Esposito, MD, has been named the 2026 Diffuse Lung Disease and Lung Transplant Network Rising Star Award recipient by the American College of Chest Physicians (CHEST) and the Council of Networks. Dr. Esposito and the other CHEST 2026 award recipients will be recognized during their respective Network Open Forums on Monday, October 19, and Tuesday, October 20.
This honor recognizes early career clinicians who have made meaningful contributions, while demonstrating promise for continued leadership within CHEST and their specialty. Dr. Esposito serves as director of Scientific and Translational Research in Interstitial Lung Disease and co-director of the Northwestern Medicine Scleroderma Program. His work focuses on improving the detection and treatment of interstitial lung diseases, particularly those related to autoimmune conditions. An emerging leader in pulmonary and critical care medicine, Dr. Esposito’s research aims to identify patients at risk for progressive lung disease, develop targeted therapies and improve patient outcomes. He integrates clinical data, imaging and advanced molecular techniques — including machine learning and “omics” research — to better understand disease progression and personalize care. Dr. Esposito has a strong track record as an early career investigator. He has secured competitive national funding, including awards from the NIH and the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, and he has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national and international conferences. In addition to his research contributions, he holds key leadership and professional roles within major respiratory societies, including serving on the Interstitial Lung Disease Section Steering Committee for CHEST and contributing to the American Thoracic Society. |
