CONSENSUS REACHED ON HOT TOPICS IN ARTHROPLASTY AT WORLD EXPERT MEETING

The inaugural World Expert Meeting in Arthroplasty took place in September 2024 in Istanbul, Turkey, bringing together over 500 renowned hip and knee surgeons from 92 countries. The event focused on 64 controversial topics, with expert teams developing consensus statements through literature reviews and debates. Linda I. Suleiman, MD, played a significant role, presenting and contributing to the discussions and consensus-building efforts.
 
Key discussions included:
  • The use of dual mobility in primary total hip replacements
  • Outcomes of hemiarthroplasty vs. total hip arthroplasty for geriatric hip fractures
  • Metal hypersensitivity in knee arthroplasty
 
The final consensus statements and accompanying review papers will be published as a supplement in the Journal of Arthroplasty.
