October 2024 BEST PRACTICES FOR WOUND AND DRESSING MANAGEMENT IN TKA AND THAFeaturing: Linda I. Suleiman, MD
The Delphi panel of 20 orthopaedic surgeons from Europe and North America, including Linda Suleiman, MD, of Northwestern Medicine Orthpaedics, recently reached a consensus on more than 60 key topics in arthroplasty, including guidelines for wound closure and dressing management in total knee arthroplasty (TKA) and total hip arthroplasty (THA).
The experts identified key interventions, such as using barbed sutures, triclosan-coated sutures, and mesh adhesives, which have been associated with lower rates of complications and infections. The two studies, published in The Journal of Arthroplasty, will help reduce variability and promote standardization. Guidelines for TKA > Guidelines for THA > |
