The vision of the Northwestern Medicine Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is to serve as a role model across the world for providing obstetrical and gynecological care. We are proud of our accomplishments in obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive health research. We aspire to be the best educators as we pursue our goals in clinical care and research. The report reflects some of these experiences over the last fiscal year, September 2024 to August 2025.

Faculty Spotlight: Emily M. Hinchcliff, MD, MPH
Emily M. Hinchcliff, MD, MPH, is a board-certified gynecologic oncologist who delivers comprehensive, leading-edge care across the full spectrum of gynecologic cancers. She is nationally recognized for her research on the tumor microenvironment and the immune system’s role in cancer progression. She also finds joy in educating future OB-GYN leaders. |
Chicago Institute for Fetal Health
The Chicago Institute for Fetal Health, a regional leader in fetal care, is a collaboration between Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital and Prentice Women’s Hospital. It provides pre-birth counseling, corrective fetal interventions and specialized follow-up care for babies with fetal complications. |
Faculty Spotlight: Amber Watters, MD, MS
Amber Watters, MD, MS, is the chief of Obstetrics at one of the largest-volume Labor and Delivery units in the country and has cultivated an effective skillset as a leader and mentor in direct patient care, operations and strategy, and quality improvement and research. She has been using new software and digital technology to improve patient outcome on a large scale. |

Faculty Spotlight: Angela Chaudhari, MD, FACOG, FACS
Angela Chaudhari, MD, FACOG, FACS, is the chief of Gynecology and Gynecologic Surgery and represents the department in surgical services operations, consistently evaluating and ensuring clinical excellence in the gynecologic surgical specialties. She is a fierce advocate for patients and colleagues alike and is the founder of Northwestern Medicine’s P2P Network, a peer support program for adverse events, which has expanded to support more than 12,000 healthcare workers across disciplines. |
Contributed Services Faculty
The Contributed Services Faculty at Prentice Women’s Hospital consists of more than 16 self-employed practices that represent more than 80 faculty members, known for delivering exceptional care across Chicago. They are also deeply committed to education, with faculty receiving numerous teaching awards annually. |
Faculty Spotlight: Debabrata Chakravarti, PhD
Debabrata (Debu) Chakravarti, PhD, has played a key role in advancing the department’s research and teaching missions. He leads fundamental and translational research efforts, mentors junior faculty and fosters collaboration across Northwestern University and the Feinberg School of Medicine. His lab has made major discoveries in the molecular mechanisms of uterine fibroids and endometriosis, with publications in top-tier journals. |
