The vision of the Northwestern Medicine Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is to serve as a global leader in obstetrics, gynecology, reproductive health and healthcare delivery through innovations in person-centered care, research and education. This report is a summary of our accomplishments over the last fiscal year, September 2023 to August 2024.
We are proud of the highlighted success stories of our faculty, trainees, students and staff. We underscore our extraordinarily high inpatient and outpatient volumes, which reflect many surgical procedures, outstanding training programs and leading-edge research in core areas of obstetrics and gynecology. Contributed Services Faculty
The Contributed Services Faculty (CSF) at Prentice Women’s Hospital consists of 16 practice groups and 104 faculty members, known for delivering exceptional care across the Chicago area. They are also deeply committed to education, with faculty receiving numerous teaching awards annually. |
Faculty Spotlight: Lynn M. Yee, MD, MPH
Lynn M. Yee, MD, MPH, is a maternal-fetal medicine physician-scientist leading a major research program focused on improving the health of diverse, underserved pregnant individuals. As principal investigator of several National Institutes of Health–funded studies, Dr. Yee and her team conduct multidisciplinary research to enhance the health of pregnant people and their families. |
Center for Health Equity Transformation
The Center for Health Equity Transformation (CHET) works to improve health for all by addressing the root causes of health inequities. CHET’s research focuses on racial health disparities, particularly in women’s reproductive and maternal health. |
Faculty Spotlight: Weronika A. Armstrong, MD
Weronika A. Armstrong, MD, is an assistant professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Medical Education at Feinberg School of Medicine, where she serves as clerkship director. A dedicated mentor, she collaborates with students and residents to develop innovative curricula. Dr. Armstrong and her mentees have published and presented on topics such as health disparities, shared decision making in obstetrics, transgender care, gynecologic ultrasound and genitourinary dysplasia. |
Chicago Institute for Fetal Health
The Chicago Institute for Fetal Health, a regional leader in fetal care, is a collaboration between Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital and Prentice Women’s Hospital. It provides pre-birth counseling, corrective fetal interventions and specialized follow-up care for babies with fetal complications. |
Faculty Spotlight: Linda C. Yang, MD
Linda C. Yang, MD, is a distinguished expert in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, specializing in endometriosis. Renowned for her clinical excellence, teaching, mentorship and patient advocacy, she excels in managing complex cases and advancing patient care through education and awareness. |
