February 2023 LEADING THE FIGHT AGAINST LYMPHOMA: INSIGHTS FROM JANE WINTER, MDFeaturing: Jane Winter, MD
Jane Winter, MD, professor of Hematology and Oncology at Northwestern Medicine, highlights the exciting advancements in the treatment of Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphomas. Dr. Winter, a member of the Lurie Cancer Center, discusses the promising results of a clinical trial she led investigating the use of a checkpoint inhibitor, with all of the patients in complete remission at the end of treatment. New immunotherapies and targeted agents make this an extremely exciting time for the hematologist oncologist, she says. “I have patients alive today who wouldn’t have been alive just five years ago because of these new approaches to treatment. These are very life changing events for those of us who care for patients, and for our patients.” Dr. Winter also touches on her opportunity to lead the American Society of Hematology as its president and the responsibility of opening doors for the next generation of clinical investigators. |
